InsideOut Insider: Live from Sales Connect

Throughout the years, I have been to my fair share of conferences, lectures, and tradeshows. All of them are similar, with guest speakers, networking events, and handfuls of business cards. You usually go in thinking you know it all already and for the most part you do. However, if you’re lucky, you come back with a few little chunks of knowledge that help change the way you look at business. With Sales Connect right around the corner, I came up with a few predictions for my time there, maybe some will even come true (if cards are in my favor).


One of the biggest aspects of conventions and tradeshows are the guest lecture speakers. These are the crème de la crème of the marketing and sales realm. Among the group at Sales Connect are professionals such as Julie Currie, Mike Gamson, Grad Conn and stars like Malcom Gladwell. I guarantee with the diversity in all speakers and their professions this will be unlike any conference I’ve been to. Their expertise goes beyond the traditional, and hopefully, they will make a point to touch on their out of the box techniques.


This is the mecca. It’s where Social Selling all began. It’s the first and only social network for professionals to connect over the internet. It’s where we do business, and because the way people buy has changed, the way we now sell changed too. Instead of sitting in a board room or going door to door, we now connect with a prospect, message coyly, find an incidental similarity, and build a relationship in order to sell our good or service. I’m sure Sales Connect will go above and beyond to foster the relationship building process we experience online through their website in an intimate setting designed for networking.


I got the lowdown, so I think I know what to expect. This isn’t your traditional tradeshow; it’s going to be a lot familiar faces (thanks LinkedIn) and a quainter, more intimate setting. What always gets me are the huge after parties built for networking and hardcore partying. I expect Sale Connect’s rooftop party to be like hanging out with a bunch of old friends, well because they kind of are. What’s so great about social media is that you know each other without having to meet. Now, lucky us, we get the chance to actually speak face to face all in one place. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be an exciting event where our pen pals will have the chance to become friends and partners in the future.
