What I Learned From Sitting Down With Ariana Henck
Let me start by saying I love my job! Being at InsideOut has been one of the happier times in my career. The highlight for me is the work culture; Everyone is so friendly here. Also, the amount of support given not only from coworkers, but leadership, is amazing. I wanted to learn more about growth opportunities at InsideOut, so I asked a few of my coworkers and one suggested that I speak with Ari Henck. In her time at InsideOut, Ari has moved from a Sales Development Representative to a Senior Customer Success Manager, so I knew that Ari would be an excellent person to interview. I knew Ari has put in work to get to where she is and could provide me with all the information I would need to grow.
Tell me about how you started at InsideOut.
When I was looking for a job, I didn’t see myself in a sales role. It’s not something that I particularly sought out to do. I always thought I would work in the media industry. As it turns out, my background in communications and what I studied in school aligned well with a sales role. I applied and was blessed to get the job! I started as an SDR and within half a year, I became a Team Leader. I was an individual contributor, but I also got to support the team. After a year, we brought in a lot of new business, so there were leadership positions that opened. I applied to be a Sales Manager, which meant I worked directly with InsideOut’s clients, in addition to training and developing our team on the floor. I worked hard and was promoted to a Customer Success Manager, then was recently promoted to Senior Customer Success Manager. I get to work with a team of other CMS across multiple accounts and have an impact in how we deploy initiatives across a larger client base.
Can you elaborate a on what it is you do in your current position?
A Senior Customer Success Manager wears a few different hats. Number one, I’m working with a team of CSM’s that are deployed across multiple clients. Our job in customer success is to not only coach, develop, and work with our teams on the floor, but it’s also to support the client. We’re reporting back on all the key performance indicators and all of the metrics that our team is developing, as well as insights and on-the-floor knowledge.
We’re also working hand in hand with our clients on the overall strategic direction of the project. So whether they want to test a new market and they don’t know which sales play to use, or they’re building the inside sales function at their company for the first time, I’m a part of that strategic deployment. I get to influence what our best practices are that we’ve developed in the lab and make sure that our customers learn that and develop that for themselves.
In your current position, what would you say the highlights are?
The highlight for me is that every time I work with a new existing client, I get to soak up an immense amount of knowledge. We’re working with a lot of large enterprises and a lot of really smart startups, so every time we deploy a new project, I learn so much about inside sales. It’s what we learn along the way that helps make our teams better and helps me be more successful at my job. So I like the learning aspect of it, that’s my favorite part.
What would you say would be the next step in your journey with InsideOut?
Since I’ve been here, we’ve doubled in size, and as the company grows, I grow with it. My next step for myself personally at InsideOut, is to continue on this growth trajectory that we’re on because it’s setting me up for future success in my career. I get to learn and grow with the company. That’s really my next step, to continue the path that we’re on and soak up as much knowledge along the way that I can.

The interview with Ari was so inspiring, she is an amazing fountain of information! I took away a few things from this interview. Persistence and perseverance are key. Ari had the persistence to not only reach her goals, but to surpass them. She also persevered through changes within the company, as it expanded. Speaking to Ari was great motivation for me to seek career growth at InsideOut. Not only will I continue to sing Ari’s praises, but I will aspire to create my own story at Inside out.
